  Nice restaurant by the canal, they have a more upscale menu than you would expect for a place of this type. Licensed and they have Barking Squirrel Lager which is always a great thing in my book. Food is reliably good with sometimes unusual specials that are very good. Soups are made in house, imaginative and creative and yummy. One of our favorite places for a decent meal with friendly staff. Slightly upscale but some more common choices as well, not cheap but not pricey either.

  We eat here regularly and the food tastes home cooked and delicious and you always get a big portion. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly and efficient. Always a good experience eating here. Highly recommended.

  Don't let the age of this restaurant deter you from eating here. They have the best burgers and club sandwiches anywhere in the the area. In the summer they have a nice patio where you can watch the summer crouds and the occasional boat going into the locks. Great food for your money.

  Good food and a great staff! Mainstreet has been a staple in Merrickville for a long time and the go to place for breakfast, dinner or just a coffee! They also put on a ton of great events including the Chef Night where they invite local business owners to decorate their restaurant and cook a themed meal for everyone, it's always a great time.
